CD Replication: An Affordable Way to Get Your Voice Heard

CD DVD Production | Comments (0) admin @ 1:19 am

Whether you’re a motivational speaker in search of an audience, a musician in search of a recording label, or a company in search of customers, using CDs or DVDs is an extremely effective means of communicating your message. Marketing and advertising professionals understand the power of audio and video to leave a lasting impression, and frequently insert CDs or DVDs into mass mailings, magazine polybags, and press kits. They know something that those who are just making a name for themselves aren’t aware of: CD duplication and DVD replication isn’t as expensive as it might seem.

Whether you’re putting together your own press mailing, developing a demo CD to send to movers and shakers, wish to sell video of your performance, or want to showcase your products and services,

you can add an extra touch of professionalism by working with a company that specializes in CD and DVD duplication. When it comes to cost, it works like other forms of printing: the higher the quantity, the lower the per-piece price.

For example, if you want to produce a CD in a printed cardboard sleeve, you could get 1,000 made for about a dollar a piece. Up the quantity to 10,000, and the price drops to around 56 cents a piece. This price typically includes replicated discs with full-color offset or silkscreen printing, a printed cardboard sleeve, insertion, and shrinkwrap.

Bulk quantities of CDs and DVDs are even less expensive. One thousand CDs run only about 45 cents each, while DVDs are priced as low as $650 per thousand, or 65 cents per DVD. As for packaging, a printed paper sleeve adds only about seven cents per CD or DVD, while a jewel case is about 20 cents per case.

DVD box packaging is also an option at around $1.20 per DVD for 1,000, and about 67 cents per piece for 10,000. This kind of replication and packaging typically includes printing, a full-color case wrap, assembly, and overwrap. A top spine label generally costs a few cents more.

If you’re planning to do a mailing, you can use a CD replication service that will duplicate your CD, then insert it into a cardboard mailer and shrinkwrap it. Pricing for the replicated discs and mailers runs about $1.60 each for 1,000, or about 50 cents each for 10,000.

If you want to go the extra step and take advantage of cutting-edge technology, the best DVD and CD duplication services have products like FlexDVD, which is a DVD that can bend without snapping or cracking. This is perfect for cover mounting and mass mailings. Another new and intriguing technology is called "Rub ‘n Smell," whereby a scent is embedded into a varnish that covers the printed side of the disc and is activated when the recipient rubs the disc’s label. Now, that’s the sweet smell of success!

The bottom line, though, is that whether you’re marketing yourself or your business, you can take advantage of the same techniques that huge marketing firms use – without breaking the bank.

Band CD Duplication

CD DVD Production | Comments (0) admin @ 1:19 am

Is Your Band Ready For CD Duplication Or CD Replication?
 by: Blake Stoffregen

It’s a typical situation. You’ve been putting a lot of energy in your craft and people are starting to talk about your band. You’ve played a few shows and everyone is asking for a CD. fast cd duplicationI used to think that in order to release your own CD you would go out and play a bunch of shows and then someone would come out and sign you. They’d take care of everything. They’d set up the recording studio, organize the artwork, and pay for it to get manufactured. That’s not the case these days.

At present, technology is readily available for any budding musician to record, create, and duplicate CDs. CD duplication involves CD-R media. CD-R prices have dropped dramatically since the first CD Recorders were available on the consumer market. This makes it an affordable option for anyone who wants to copy their own CDs and pass them on to friends, family, or fans. This is a great option for the young band that is still getting their feet wet in the music industry. Duplicating a limited amount of CDs can keep a limited budget in place.

If your band is at the point were your ready to start selling your CD your best option is to make a retail-ready CD and having it replicated. What is a retail ready CD? These are the same CDs you find in the music stores by the major label artists. They have great artwork printed on CD inserts, a nice tray card insert, silk screened art on the CD, and they are shrink-wrapped.

The retail-ready CDs are not duplicated, but Replicated. This means that an exact replica of your CD master has been stamped out on all of the CDs. CD Replication is the way to go if you are serious about selling your music for profit. In fact most music stores will not sell duplicated CDs. Think about it this way. It is illegal to sell or profit from duplicating copy written material. If you tried to sell CDs that have been duplicated to a retail store you’ll more than likely get turned down. How are they to know that it is really your band? One of the best anti-piracy practices that CD manufacturing plants have instituted is the verification of copyright and ownership through a International Property Rights Form. Filling out an I.P.R. form ensures the CD Replication plant that they are not infringing on anyone’s copyright.

CD Replication not only shows that you value your art enough to have it made retail-ready, but also cost effective. I’ll break it down in general.

DIY CD Duplication

1 Computer with CD Recorder
100 Memorex CD-R
CD Jewel Cases
Printer Ink
Man Hours

Total $1495.00

Typical CD Replication Package

CD Replication for 1000 CDs
1-3 color on-disc silk-screen imprint
CD Jewel box, assembly, professional quality film-wrap
2 Panel Insert and Tray card
Bar Code

Total $1000.00

These prices are very approximate and are only used for the purpose of estimating the difference between CD Duplication and CD Replication. Lets dig in a little bit. I’ve already illustrated some of the benefits of CD Duplication and the benefits of CD Replication. You can see above that you are spending approximately $500 more taking on the CD duplication responsibilities yourself and only getting 100 CDs!! Having your CDs Replicated costs less and someone else is doing the work. You can spend the time you’d spend on CD duplication and practice your chops or promote your upcoming CD release party, saving yourself $500 that you can use for items like merchandising, t-shirts, stickers, and posters.

Whether you choose CD Replication or CD Duplication, you’ll need to do some research. There are plenty of resources available for CD Duplication and you probably own everything you need. It is up to you and your band to decide which option is better depending on what level you see your band on. Are you a band that plays parties or small clubs, or is your band seasoned and touring? There are benefits to both. Find a local CD manufacturer in your area and ask for their recommendation. Most CD manufacturers also offer quick turn high quality CD Duplication with printing on the CDs. Keep rockin’!

If you are in need of large scale duplication of CD or DVD, if is better to approach a service provider who have the facilities to do the job in an acceptable timeframe, and a reputation to match. Internet is replete with the sites of such duplicating services. But I should advise you that a replicating service should be able to provide turnkey service which includes pre-mastering analysis, glass mastering, molding, silk screening, secure printing, packaging and transporting the finished product to the client securely.

CDs and DVDs come in different sizes and shapes. It is possible to create duplicate copies on any kind of disks. The best of our duplicating services would treat you respectfully and faithfully irrespective of whether you are a first timer or not. They offer excellent customer service and desirable delivery. A company with solid reputation in customer satisfaction and total commitment to product quality is the one which suits you the best.

Initial negotiations can fetch you a price discount too. But remember, quality should not be compromised with price. Many of us fall into the trap of cheap service. They may prove to be failures in the long run. So look for quality, but at a decent price. Don’t Make Mistakes With Dvd Production And Content Management

Trends are emerging reflecting growing complexities related to managing CD and DVD production and the production and management of other content. This includes sales, marketing or training materials, software or other content that people are trying to send out to their customers.

Small businesses are up against challenges including CD or DVD replication which is just one component of a bigger project. Pieces are usually procured via several vendors. There are growing complexities to managing content.

Companies that have five to ten employees, versus hundreds or thousands of employees, are typically responsible for producing several different marketing pieces that need to be managed along with CD or DVD manufacturing. This might include brochures, manuals, user agreements, data sheets, stationary, or presentation folders or sales and press kits. These are usually digital or offset printed materials and packaging that are often produced through a number of vendors.

dvd replication companyThis is when problems usually occur with quality control issues. For example, if a manual is produced by one company and the DVD is being produced by another vendor, there is often no cohesiveness between the two. What iof the colors don’t match. It is usually just one person handling it all, including shipping, coordination and logistics of managing a multitude of vendors.

A better solution is a fulfillment house that can handle all production. This will help keep branding and quality control in check via one stop shopping that leverages the budget. Copmpanies get the best bang for their buck.

What’s more, the best fulfillment sources today offer solutions under one umbrella that they can order off of one website storefront or e-commerce site. It is like accessing and or controlling a store front, or an online catalog where people can go online and access the specific content needed. The internal audience is usually the sales team, or corporate communications teams who need sales and corporate collateral, such as business letterhead and cards. VARS can get their own versions of materials needed and external customers can go in and get what you want them to see and order. Of course there are needs for materials from corporate communicaitons, marketing, HR and the technology departments.

Look for an e-commerce solution that anyone can use and set it up based on your company’s rules, or structure. You will see a return on investment in a short period of time, and those managing the program will no longer be stressed due to the challenges print and DVD production outsourcing.

DVD Mastering

Learn Morea About Dvd Mastering For Everyone

The process of DVD mastering is best left to professionals with large scale business operations. Businesses that want to create high-quality video recordings should have the service of DVD mastering engineers to ensure the production of high quality recordings. Some companies can afford to have DVD mastering engineers in their staff. Small businesses can also rely on the help of Boston DVD mastering services to do the job for them.

People who want to produce a few DVDs for hobby purposes can also complete DVD mastering at home if they have the right equipment. The process of DVD mastering is very timely for someone to do at home if they need hundreds or thousands of discs made, though, so DVD printing services should be utilized in those cases.

dvd double layerFor the purposes of a hobby, anyone with the right kind of knowledge can complete the DVD mastering process at home using a personal computer and DVD mastering software. DVD mastering programs are available at Boston electronics stores and online, a great option for people who want to do their own DVD mastering from the comfort of their own homes.

DVD Mastering is a very important step in the production of video discs. DVD mastering is the final polishing and editing process where creative finishing touches are applied to the ‘tracks’ on the DVD before it is sent for DVD replication. DVD mastering uses a wide range of techniques that both refine and finish the video recording before it is ready to be replicated. DVDs must undergo mastering to ensure that the finished product has excellent picture and sound quality.

The DVD mastering process is generally done by professional mastering engineers who work in state-of-the-art studios with advanced DVD mastering equipment. This type of DVD mastering involves a series of steps, starting with the assembly editing, which involves arranging the tracks in the proper order on the disc. DVD mastering also involves making sure the spacing between songs is properly adjusted.

The sweetening process of DVD mastering refines the overall quality of the digital video. Then the intensity and arrangement of the sound and graphics are enhanced so that the final master disc will look and sound much better than the mix. The last step of DVD mastering is where the output is transferred onto the media needed for DVD replication.

DVD mastering programs are often inexpensive and can sometimes be downloaded for free, but these are only useful for very small-scale DVD mastering jobs. Some good at-home DVD mastering features and options that are found in professional mastering software are available, but only one disc can be mastered at a time at home. Mastering DVDs for hobbies is a lot easier and more cost-effective these days with these DVD mastering applications.

Businesses that need professional looking DVD mastering can rely on the service of a Boston DVD printing company. A reputable DVD printing company should be able to complete a large-scale DVD mastering job of hundreds or thousands of discs within a week or less.
